We are pleased to share that ten metro schools received $100,000 each from the United Way/Target Spotlight Schools Initiative, an effort by Twin Cities United Way and Target to  fund a year-long project aimed at accelerating the pace of successful student achievement in an effort to close the achievement gap between low-income students of color and white students.

The schools included five district and five charter schools (four of the five charters are CSP Partner Schools).   More than 40 Minneapolis and St. Paul schools submitted grant proposals, but only 10 were selected in the highly competitive process.

The following schools received the grants:

Community of Peace Academy – Charter in Saint Paul
Como Park Elementary School – Saint Paul Public Schools
Eastern Heights Elementary School – Saint Paul Public Schools
Friendship Academy of the Arts – Charter in Minneapolis
Harvest Preparatory School – Charter in Minneapolis
Heritage Science and Technology Magnet – Minneapolis Public Schools
Hiawatha Leadership Academy – Morris Park – Charter in Minneapolis
Patrick Henry High School – Minneapolis Public Schools
Saint Paul City School – Charter in Saint Paul
Washington Technology Magnet – Saint Paul Public Schools

Thanks to Twin Cities United Way and Target for your support and focus on schools that are moving the needle and closing the opportunity gap in the Twin Cities and congratulations to the 10 schools for your well-deserved awards!
